Basic “About Us” Brochure

We have been trying to keep our CPE brochure up-to-date… but had let our

general information brochure get more and more out of date.

But our new one is now available. Try clicking below.

Philippine Medical Mission Research

While we at Bukal Life have mostly shifted to counseling, clinical pastoral education, and disaster response, we still occasionally are involved in medical mission work.
Bob Munson, the administrator of Bukal Life, recently finished his dissertation on the use of medical mission events in the Philippines for long-term local church outreach. Since the focus is on integration of short-term events with long-term ministry, the paper has applicability beyond medical to other forms of Christian relief and development.
Rather than bore people with over 200 pages of unpleasant reading, Bob has reworked the dissertation into a couple of articles and several blogs.

The two articles are on Slideshare, while the posts are on Bob’s mission blog.

Article #1: Visual Model for Church-Based Relief and Development

Article #2: Healthy Medical Missions: Principles for the Church’s Role in Effective Community Outreach in the Philippines

Blog #1: Medical Mission Events in the Philippines, Part 1

Blog #2: Medical Mission Events in the Philippines, Part 2

Blog #3: Medical Mission Events in the Philippines, Part 3

Return to Cagayan de Oro

Our Disaster Response Crisis Intervention Team returned to Cagayan de Oro for training and crisis intervention. The team will start work with the Department of Education, as well as at some of the evacuation centers.

It may be worth explaining what we do. We are a religious organization and so some might assume that we focus on evangelism. That is not the case. When someone has gone through a major crisis, they should not make major decision, and should not be encouraged to. They need to be taken to a place of safety and security (physically, emotionally, and mentally). They need to be given a chance for ventilation and validation. They need a chance to plan and prepare for the future… to find a new normal.

We use NOVA (National Organization for Victim Assistance) for group intervention. We use Crisis Care Chaplaincy by the Southern Baptist Convention for training of chaplains, as well as Psychological First Aid by NCCTS (and others).
