The Wednesday after Easter, Bob and Celia led training “Conflict in the Field” with Asia Vision-Short Term Missions. This is part of their prefield training before their two month mission trip into Asia.
Thursday was the first day of our CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education). CPE lasts for 10-11 weeks. We have 8 trainees this time. So far, it looks like it is going to be a great, but busy, Summer. We meet as a group Thursdays and Fridays for 11 weeks.
May 2nd. Monthly “Minister Heartlink” Planning meeting.
July 4-15. Minster Heartlink CPO Intensive. training.
September. CPE Extended
October 4-10. Heartlink Project in Mindanao
Two photos included here. One of them is a picture of the first batch of Summer Interns for CPE. This batch is relatively diverse with two Catholic, two Anglican, and two Evangelical ministers each. Heading the orientation is Celia Munson, CPSP-certified Supervisor-In-Training, serving with Bukal Life Care. A second batch of Summer Interns will begin in April.
The other photo also involves Celia. This one involves Basic First Aid training with Asia Vision-STM. Asia Vision-STM is a training and sending organization, based in Baguio City Philippines, for sending Filipinos (especially) into Southeast and Central Asia on short-term missions. Bukal Life Care has been partnering with AV-STM for some time now with training, materials, and evaluations. While it may seem strange that we would be leading a class on Basic First Aid, Bukal Life Care takes the term “Life Care” seriously. It is holistic– concerned with physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. As such, it is important for the STMers to be healthy, but also to be a help to others. We were also able to provide some supplies to them to help them in this work. Their blogsite is www.avstm.wordpress.com.
This was a busy day for us.
A. We had a training session at CRC Hall in Baguio with the CBCP Center for Women and Children. The topic: “Basic Skills and Theory of Pastoral Counseling and Psychotherapy”. 43 attended from over 20 organizations, including DSWD, Couples for Christ, and the Soroptomist Club. Training was led by Rev. Joel Aguirre, BLCCC Executive Director.
B. On the same day, had training workshop on “Church-based Member Care for Missionaries”. This was held at Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary. This is part of Asia Vision-STM’s Leadership Development Program. This is our 2nd year of involvement in their program. Over 40 attended. Celia Munson (BLCCC Director of Training) was the trainer, with a bit of help from her husband Bob (BLCCC Administrator).
