Special Needs Ministry Training at PBTS

We had a great time with a half day training in incorporating Special Needs children, adults (and their families) into the church and ministry. 70 people attended the training. These included the Bukal Life CPE trainees, teachers from Calvary Baptist Elementary School, and church education leaders. The training was led by Bob and Celia Munson of Bukal Life, and Julie Sibucao, the principal at Calvary Baptist Elementary School.

This is part of Asia Vision-STM’s Leadership Development Program. This is our 2nd year of involvement in their program. Over 40 attended. 2010 Batch 2 CPE

CPE trainers and trainees.

Photo of 2010 Batch 2 CPE trainers and trainees. Eden and Gem were unable to be in the picture (Sayang!!) but Bernard, Sofia, Jheny, Celia, and Ptr. Joel were.

BTW, completed a smallgroup training in psychometric testing and learning styles with teachers from Immaculate Heart of Mary School in La Trinidad. We think it went well, and look forward to working with other schools in the Northern Philippines in this area.

Congratulations to CPE 2010 batch 2 Graduates

Congratulations to those who have completed batch 2 (June-August) of our CPE internship. Some were working on the full CPE, while others were working on the extended program or working towards certification. Congrats to Bernard, Gem, Jheny, Eden, Sofia, and Celia!!

There internship ended with a weeklong pastoral care and training project with the Saint Mary’s School and the Episcopal parish in Sagada, Mountain Province. Thanks to all for making the visit so productive and enjoyable.

Blood Drive at PBTS in Baguio

The blood drive with the Philippine Red Cross was accomplished on Feb 15. This partnered with Asia Vision-STM (and was done in the office of AV-STM, on the campus of Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary) and the PBTS student council. Approximately 45 came to give blood. After screenings, 30 were able to donate. We hope to work together with the PRC and expand on the solid based.

This was our first attempt to support this type of work in Baguio City. While we generally focus on wholistic work (integration spiritual and social ministries) we believe that saving lives is clearly in line with Christ’s ministry and His example for us.

Minimedical in Camdas, Baguio City

Group Shot from Save our Street Children Project

The group of students from Saint Louis University (Baguio City) joined with “Save our Street Children” for a medical mission. Bukal Life was happy to provide most all of the medicines and vitamins for the project. Drs. Rene and Evita Buada (friends both of the SLU team and Bukal Life) provided medical care. “Save our Street Children” works with around 100 children in Baguio. About half of these came to the medical mission held on January 30, 2010. Vitamins were set aside for those that did not come.
