We are blessed to have a door open to serve at Saint Louis University Sacred Heart Medical Center. In a few days our chaplains will start serving there, working with Fr Embry, the head chaplain of the hospital. The formal MOU is being worked on with signing coming soon.
We believe this is a great new opportunity for our chaplains, our chaplain trainees, and for the patients and staff of SLU Hospital.
We are busy still with Clinical Pastoral Education. We have kept pretty active with CPE through the pandemic, but the lessening of the stranglehold of the malady has eased some of the challenges of late. Chaplains Vo and Lyn each are leading their groups.
The next CPE group is expected to be a 6-week Half Unit CPE. It is expected to start the 3rd week in June.
Bob and Celia are returning back to Baguio after a year in the US. They are excited to get back to work face-to-face.
Two or three of our staff are hoping to go to Davao in August to meet Drs. Raymond Lawrence and Cal Sodoy for a CPE supervisor training. Dr. Lawrence is the General Secretary and founder of CPSP in the United States.
We are still working on collecting papers for our Bukal Life Journal. Publishing date is To Be Determined.

July 26, 2019 we held CPE Commissioning for our 9 trainees at Bukal Life Care (with Diplomate Supervisor Celia Munson and Supervisor in Training Lyn Montecastro). We also welcomed 6 recent CPE trainees from Saint Andrews Theological Seminary (with Diplomate Supervisor Paul Tabon). The commissioning was held at Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary. Father Ivo Anselmi provided an inspirational message on family, and each of the trainees provided their ministerial metaphor to the group. Afterwards, all joined at the PBTS canteen for celebratory lunch.

Chaplain Renato Eustaquio and his wife Dr. Joy are establishing a care center at Dr. Yanga’s Hospital in Bocaue Bulacan.
Chaplain Renato is a staff member of Bukal Life Care. His work as an industrial/corporate chaplain is part of a pilot program of Bukal.
However, based on a 3-day visioning here in Baguio last week, it was agreed that the correct direction is for the Eustaquio’s to set up their own center in Bocaue. This is an exciting opportunity and we wish them well.
That is not to say that we are breaking all ties. Celia will serve as the supervisor for Supervisor-in-Training Renato in CPE. Additionally, he is on the board of trustees of Bukal. We look forward to working together for years to come.

We held our Summer 2018 Commissioning Service for our Clinical Pastoral Education Trainees. Our trainees are: Christine, Kenino, Daniel, Dorina, Esther, Chiqui, Christian, Michael, Eden, Joel, Matthew, Fredirick, and Edgar (Chara and Lyn could not join the service). The Supervisor is Celia, and the SITs (Supervisors-in-Training) are Vo and Edgar. Our trainees this Summer are from the four countries.
Celia and Vo’s CPE groups were blessed to have a guest instructor– Chaplain Salvador Delmundo. He is the head chaplain of the famed Menninger Clinic in Houston, Texas .
He was able to speak via Skype for two hours. He shared a great deal of wisdom in terms of his role as a chaplain at a psychiatric institution. We are greatly thankful for his support, and look forward to future communications.
