August Updates

We are in a bit of a lull right now. There may be a CPE group starting August 17, but that is uncertain (depending on whether some can really join who have expressed interest).

Of more certainty are the following:

  1.  September 14.  Basic Christian Counseling seminar will be led by Chaplain Vo Canoy in San Jacinto, Pangasinan.
  2. September 16.  We plan to begin a CPE Intensive program. It will be based at Pines Doctors Hospital in Baguio.
  3. October. We expect to start CPO as part of the 2nd semester at Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary. More info to follow.
  4. Late October. Hoping hold IPR (Inter-Personal Relations) training led by Dr. Cal Sodoy. Again, more info to follow.

December Updates

We recently had a few small holiday events.

On December 12th, we had our Drug Surrenderer Christmas celebration at Lualhati barangay. We are presently meeting with the Lualhati group monthly, and with the Pacdal group weekly.

On December 15th, we had the last CPO (Clinical Pastoral Orientation) meeting of 2017. We did several case presentations, most of them done while having merienda at Noodle King.

On December 16th, we went to the La Trinidad District jail for counseling, and some gifts for all of the female inmates. Afterwards, our team went out to lunch at Future Diner. . This is our last ministry day until the holidays is over.

December 19. We will have our last CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) on this date. This is for one of our two groups. The other group is already off for the holiday and will return in 2018.

January 8.  This is the start of three activities. One is the Lide-Walker Conference 2017. The focus will be on from the Grimes of The Relationship Warehouse. Second is a module course on Marriage Counseling, January 8-19, led by Dr. Chuck Henderson. Third is the SEE conference. All of these are at Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary.

December 2014 Updates

Updates:
—January 5-7. Lide-Walker Conference. We will have our booth there… and we will have our grand open house of our new office. Hope to see you there.

—January 26. First day of Clinical Pastoral Orientation. Meets on Mondays for 6 weeks. 100 hours of practical ministry, formal didactic, group life interaction, and individual supervision. (May be taken by PBTS students for credit).

—March 23. First day of Clinical Pastoral Education (Summer Intensive). 11 weeks long. 400 hours for one full unit of CPE, 200 hours for half unit of CPE. Certified by CPSP and CPSP-Philippines. (May be taken by PBTS students for credit).

—May 13-16. Disaster Response Chaplaincy. 3 day intensive in principles of crisis response and team development for disaster. (May be taken for credit with PBTS).

October (2014) Updates

We have had a very busy time lately with Bob and Celia Munson, and Dr. Paul Tabon ministering in Korea, along with Cori, Jehny, and Becky getting training. But now that we are back… we can catch our breath a tiny bit in preparation before upcoming activities.

November 8.  Board of Trustees meeting. This is the 5th year anniversary of Bukal Life Care. We thought about having a big celebration… but decided to wait for the grand opening of our new office.

November 18-20. LCSBC Conference. We don’t have a primary role in it… although we may be working with some participants. However, we will have a booth there.

<November 29. Disaster Response Orientation seminar is postponed. It will be integrated into “Intro the CPO program, and the Leadership Symposium in 2015>

December 13-15. Pastoral Care trainings and meetings with Dr. Lawrence. (And staff Christmas party).

January 5-8. Lide-Walker Conference. We will have a booth, and we will have our grand opening for our new office.

January 19.  Start of Intro to Clinical Pastoral Care (CPO). 6. 100 hours (50/50). Integrating hospital chaplaincy orientation, disaster response chaplaincy, and (LIFT) palliative care.

March 23. Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE/T). Summer intensive unit. 11 weeks (400 hours) starting March 23.

May.  Leadership Symposium… focusing on Disaster Response for ministers. <Tentative>
