Disaster Relief Chaplain Graduation

Congratulations to the graduates of the 2-week Disaster Relief Chaplain class. They are Ptr. Joel Angiwan, Miguela Beltran, Ptr. Arsenio Dayrit, Rowena Flores, and Celia Munson. As we seek certification to work in disaster areas we pray that they will use their training and heart to provide comfort and hope for those in suffering.

Comdev Class completed

The 3-day “Church-based Community Development” class completed today with 19 finishing the course. It is introductory in nature but covered many of the major aspects of the theory and practice of church-based COMDEV. Bob Munson led the training, supported by the technical expertise of Rene Gabaldon and Gerry Escobar. Flor Salas did a wonderful job caring for the lunches and meriendas. It is hoped that this training will lead to COMDEV projects sprouting up in multiple communities.

April Updates

1. Added “8 Components of Christian Community Development” powerpoint to Training Aids (at http://www.bukallife.org).

2. Traveling to Gaswiling, Kapangan tomorrow for medical mission and film-showing.

3. Preparing for two symposiums in Baguio on Disaster Relief Counseling. These are on April 24 (University of the Cordilleras) and May 1 (Calvary Baptist Church). The 2 week training course in the same subject is about to finish its first week. Chaplain Charlie Benton our lead trainer is very busy working with the class and with the CPE group (also on-going).

4. Also preparing for COMDEV training class on April 20-22. The training will be held in Baguio City. Most of the trainees are from Cavite. Should be a great and educational time.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Completed Mission in Macabebe

Team picture at Saplad-David

Wonderful time in Macabebe. Two medical missions there April 10-11. The first was at the Colis house in Saplad-David. The second was on the island of Pulo, hosted by Celia Munson’s family there. Between the two small communities, we treated nearly 400 people. We hope to develop long-term relationships with these two communities for transformational development.

Counseling Center soon to Open

Bukal Life Pastoral Care and Counseling Center is one step closer to coming to being. We have have had our offices approved. Later this month we will have our formal announcement. Should be exciting!

Updates

Cel and Grace just returned from Pampanga verifying for medical missions on April 10 and 11, and checking out another potential site. Bob met with Ptr. Sam and worked out arrangements for Gaswiling trip on April 24 and the COMDEV training following. However, we will delay the Baguionas trip until some more logistics are worked out.

CPE training started today (Monday the 29th). Disaster Response Counseling (2-week program) starts on the 13th as part of the PBTS Summer Institute Program.
